Create the automation
- Go to Automations → Create automation
- Enter a name and select the email list this automation applies to
- Under Re-entry, choose whether subscribers may enter the automation more than once (see below)
- Choose a trigger (see Automation triggers)
- Save and open the Workflow builder
Re-entry
By default, each subscriber runs through an automation once. Enable Allow subscribers to enter this automation more than once when the trigger may fire again for the same person (for example, a recurring purchase or re-subscribe).
- Only if they were stopped before finishing — When enabled, subscribers who completed every step cannot re-enter; only those stopped mid-flow (shown as Halted on an action) can start again.
- Leave it off to allow re-entry even after a full run (useful when you always want the latest trigger to restart the flow).
Build the workflow
Add steps in sequence from the Workflow tab:
- Send automation email — Pick or create an email under Automation emails
- Wait — Delay hours or days before the next step
- Condition — Branch based on tags, attributes, or behavior
- Add / remove tag — Organize subscribers mid-flow
- Subscribe to list — Move or copy to another list
Automation emails
Each send action references an automation email with its own content, subject, and stats—similar to a mini-campaign.
Test and activate
- Add yourself as a subscriber and fire the trigger (e.g. re-subscribe on a test list)
- Confirm emails arrive with correct timing
- Go live from the Activate tab—only new trigger events run after that
Pause anytime from Activate or the list; subscribers mid-flow typically stop at the next wait or action boundary depending on configuration.
